Preparing for the FRCR 2A exam while working full-time in a private hospital in Myanmar, Dr Ingyin Khat Thwe faced limited resources, outdated materials, and a daunting syllabus. After failing the exam twice, she turned to Revise Radiology—and everything changed. We sat down with her to learn what worked, what didn’t, and her advice to others walking the same path.
Q: What was your situation when you first started preparing for the FRCR 2A exam?
I was working as a radiology postgraduate trainee in Myanmar at a private hospital and had very little access to good resources. I was already familiar with core radiology topics, but finding the right kind of structured preparation for the 2A exam was challenging. The exam has a very specific format, and it took time to understand exactly what kind of knowledge and approach was required. I relied mostly on textbooks, Telegram groups, and random blogs. It felt overwhelming and scary. The syllabus was vast and tricky, and my first attempt was extremely difficult.
Q: What did you find lacking in the resources you used before Revise Radiology?
A lot of the MCQ books and online question banks I used didn’t match the real exam format. They lacked clinical context and management questions, and the overall style was very different. That was frustrating—I felt like I was studying hard but not preparing effectively. I was looking for something that helped me think more like a radiologist, rather than just memorise content.
Q: How did you hear about Revise Radiology?
I was introduced to Revise Radiology by my mentor, Dr Shalini. She recommended it because of the quality of the teaching and the question bank. I was curious to see how it compared with other resources, and once I got started, I quickly realised how much more aligned it was with the FRCR 2A exam format.
Q: What made Revise Radiology stand out for you?
It wasn’t just about the extensive question bank—it was the quality of the explanations, the live teaching sessions that gave me a sense of connection, direction, and motivation; and how the platform mimicked the real exam. Guidance from experienced radiologists in live sessions gave me both confidence and motivation.
Q: Which features did you use the most?
The Question Packets (120 questions, timed like the real exam)
The Full Question Bank (over 4000 questions, untimed)
Live Teaching Sessions with real-time interaction and feedback
The summary tables shared by faculty like Dr Aditya—those were brilliant for last-minute revision.
Q: Did the question bank actually reflect the real exam?
Yes, very much so. A significant number of questions reflected the style, difficulty, and clinical reasoning expected in the actual exam. That familiarity really helped me feel confident
Q: What made the teaching sessions impactful for you?
Dr Ingyin:
Being put on the hot seat in the teaching sessions forced me to think and explain, not just answer. The doctors didn’t just correct me—they explained why other options were wrong. I particularly appreciated the way faculty broke down the reasoning behind correct and incorrect answers. That helped shift my mindset. The hot seat format encouraged active thinking and helped prepare me for more than just question recall—it improved how I approached unfamiliar scenarios logically. Faculty like Dr Bhoomi, Dr Hariprasad, and Dr Aditya were incredible—very good at breaking things down.
Q: You also took part in the Rewards Programme. Did it help?
Absolutely, it was a great bonus. Initially, I joined via a scholarship where I submitted over 200 questions. Later, I earned reward points by engaging with the platform, attending sessions, referring friends, and giving feedback. Financially, it made a big difference and motivated me to stay consistent.
Q: What changes did you notice in your second attempt with Revise Radiology?
I became faster and more accurate. I could identify keywords, interpret clinical scenarios better, and think more clearly. My whole approach to questions changed. After walking out of the exam, I said to myself, I think I’ve got it this time. That was a very different feeling compared to before.
Q: What would you say was the biggest factor in your success?
Two things:
The Question Packets, which improved my speed and confidence
The Live Teaching Sessions, where I learned how to approach questions the way real radiologists do
Q: What advice would you give someone considering Revise Radiology for 2A?
If you're serious about passing, use every part of the platform—the teaching sessions, the question bank, and the rewards system. Live sessions kept me motivated when I felt lazy. It’s worth the investment. If you put your heart and soul into it, you will definitely pass.
Q: You were working 240 hours a month while preparing—how did you manage?
It was tough. But having a structured system with support and feedback helped me stay on track. Time management and consistency made all the difference.
