Three days of viva practice before your exam

The course runs in the last few weeks before the exam. Each day has three viva sessions in small breakout rooms on Zoom, then a viva tutorial for the whole cohort. Every hot seat is examined by a senior consultant.

2B Mastery covers the RCR 2B curriculum over five months, with Daily Vivas for regular practice. This course adds six hot seats with consultant examiners, close to your exam date.

Your hot seats. You sit six hot seats over the three days. In each one, a senior consultant examines you on a mock exam you haven’t seen, in the format of the FRCR 2B viva. You present the cases and answer the examiner’s questions. After each case, the examiner tells you what you did well and what to change.

Watching other candidates. When you’re not in the hot seat, you watch the other candidates in your breakout room present their cases. You see how they approach each case and how the examiner responds.

Unseen mock exams. Each viva session has its own mock exams, written for this course with an exam-weighted mix of high-yield cases. They stay locked until the session starts, so the candidate in the hot seat sees the cases for the first time. The cases open in a viewer that simulates risr/assess. Each mock exam has six cases, so you see over 70 cases across the course, and each session’s mock exams stay available to you until your exam.

A tutorial at the end of each day. Each day ends with an hour and a half of viva teaching for the whole cohort, led by a consultant. It is teaching rather than assessment, and you can ask questions about the day’s cases.

Recordings until your exam. Most sessions are recorded. Recordings are uploaded within five working days of the course and stay available until your exam, so you can watch anything you missed or want to hear again.

Course dates

Each course runs live on Zoom for three days, Monday to Wednesday, between two and four weeks before the exam. Recordings of most sessions stay available until your exam. If you book more than 30 days before your course starts, you can move to a later course free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

About five days before the course, your Course Hub shows your hot seat times and breakout rooms. We confirm the final version the evening before the course starts.

Most sessions are recorded, uploaded within five working days of the course, and available until your exam. If you can’t attend one of your own hot seats, tell us at least three days before and we’ll try to move it, if there’s space in another session.

Within 14 days of buying, you can cancel for a full refund, less a 5% payment processing fee, as long as you haven’t used any of the course material. After that, we can’t give a refund. If you book more than 30 days before your course starts, you can move to a later course free of charge.

This live course covers the viva only. The 2B Mastery course covers short cases, long cases, and the viva across the RCR 2B curriculum, over the five months before your exam, with Daily Vivas but no hot seats with consultant examiners. If you can only do one, we suggest 2B Mastery, because it covers every part of the exam. If you can do both, the All-Inclusive course bundles them for £1,697, £97 less than buying them separately, and comes with the Pass Guarantee.

Many deanery study budgets cover courses. We can issue invoices and receipts, and write a letter confirming your course dates for study leave. After the course you get a certificate of attendance. Check your own deanery’s rules.

Global Pricing takes 5% to 25% off, depending on the country you work in and whether you’re a trainee: check your rate and apply. You can pay in three instalments. Through the Scholar Teaching Programme, you can cover up to half the cost of the All-Inclusive course by teaching for us.
